About the Artwork With beguilingly beautiful color combinations, the Japanese Taichi Nakamura tells stories about people and their environment. They all hold at least one secret: there is the watercolor “Forgive and forget,” which shows two young men drifting apart in a snow-like environment. Or “Shadow of youth”, which brings to life the tense emotional world of endless teenage days. Nakamura virtuously arranges his characters between pop culture and outsiderdom, relationships and boundaries, nature and destruction - and in doing so refers to the major themes of his generation. His poetic titles make your thoughts fly. About the Artist An insider tip in this country, Taichi Nakamura, who was born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1982, has long had an established fan base in his homeland. Even as a child, Nakamura caused a stir when he made his first drawings in his parents' kimono shop - and promptly thrilled customers. So it was only logical that the young artist received his painting degree from the College of Art and Design, Tokyo Zokei Art University, in 2008. Since then, Taichi Nakamura has had an impressive exhibition career in galleries and museums in Japan, including exhibitions at Tokyo Opera Art City Gallery (Tokyo) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum. Now he is on the verge of conquering the rest of the world: his work was recently shown in Miami, Rome, Taipei and Berlin. Latest Exhibitions (Selection) Current show “Lost in Paintings”, Taichi Nakamura & Yuichi Higashionna, CAVE-AYUMI GALLERY, Tokyo, from September 27 to November 4, 2024.
